Death of a Salesman-overall expression

Death of a Salesman is a well-known play, which is about the American Dream and everything around it, life and hope. Moreover, this tragic play is famous and inspires a whole generation because it is well written with figurative language and the powerful attack inside every word. Although Death of a Salesman is an old play, people still feel close to it as a logical and practical story is set up.

However, after reading Death of a Salesman, I personally didn’t have any interest at all. I thought it was because most of my favourite books are about adventures and fighting, witches and spells, imaginative creatures and ancient myths. Besides, I couldn’t be curious as the title has told us what happen at the end of the play. Another reason is because there is no change or new detail during the series of the events. It just keeps talking about Willy Loman, how he feels, what he does and his failures. Despite the fact that this is a successful play, it is not my preferred book.

Death Of The Salesman Expression.

Personally, although I feel that Death of a Salesman is a very well written play, an intelligent criticism of the American dream that effectively uses many respected literary devices, it has never fully gripped me. Perhaps it is because there is no suspense in the play; the ending is given away in the title. It is a tragedy and the readers knows it is, so there is always that ominous shadow that nothing is going to get better and so whenever there is hope and happiness, you know it will not last.

I also do not find the premise of the story all that exciting. It is all very well making the play about a normal person, but when that everyday person does not have an interesting life, or nothing out of the ordinary happens to him, it is difficult to keep me interested. When I first saw this play, I had to miss about twenty minutes out of the middle and when I returned, I felt as if I had not missed anything. In my opinion, it is even slightly boring.

However, do not let this deter you too much from reading the play. Firstly, you could be a person who enjoys tragedy. I am not someone like that. Secondly, there is a reason why it is one of the most popular plays in American literature. People like it, I am just not one of those people who it reached out to and drew in. It is certainly a milestone in modern literature and one that should be checked out, even if it is only to educate you further in literary classics. I may not like it, but I can see why it is such an important piece of work and Miller certainly knew his stuff.

Death of a Salesman, how I feel

Before I start, what is the story called 'Death of a Salesman' about?

The story called 'Death of a Salesman' is written by Arthur Miller, who was born in New York. He wrote this story during Great Depression.

So this story, there was a 63-year-old salesman called Willy Loman. In the past, he thought lots of people liked him because if there was one call, he thought he could sell his goods. Also, he had a good wife, called Linda Loman. By earning money, he bought a house. Furthermore, he thought his sons, Biff Loman and Happy Loman, is going to be the best in the future. He was always happy. However, his tragedy started by the decreased of income, fired from his company, where he worked for 30 years, and Biff, Happy were not going to be the best salesman as what he thought about. After he betrayed by lots of people, he was sad, tired, tragedic, and other things. By getting those tragedies, he tried to commit suicide by using rubber tubing, which failed by Biff Loman. Then during one night, he used his car to overdrive and finally died. By his death, their family could earn money (you know when someone old die, you can get money from the finance centre) which was lots of money to cover the end.

How do I feel about this? Well, this story was really disaster, which made Willy Loman to die. I could also feel this kind of thing by looking at the period when Miller wrote this story. It was during Great Depression, which many people lost their jobs, tried to sell everything what they had, and mostly, committed suicide. I think in this story, Miller showed these bad things by using the character called Willy Loman, who lost his dream, money, etc. So overall, I think this story was perfectly good to learn English and History because this story showed how disaster the Great Depressions were.

Eragon

This is a fascinating story about a boy called Eragon. One day he found a dragon's egg in the forest which would change his life forever. But he found out that it was a dragon's egg, he kept the dragon as a pet and name it Saphira. Unknown to him, the evil king Found out about this and sends his minions to retrieve the dragon. The Secret garden

The setting and plot
After her parents' death, Mary Lennox moves to Yorkshire to live with her uncle, whom she has never met before. Living in the huge house and going around large gardens, in the morning Mary discovers a key that could open the secret garden, a garden that has been abandoned and forgotten for ten years. At night, sometimes she hears a cry in the house; however, nobody tells her the truth of that strange noise. With the help of some new friends, will Mary find out the secret behind the garden and the owner of the cry? Will she change the garden into a beautiful and happy place with colourful flowers or it is still a garden that no one enters for the next ten years? Will she change herself and have a new home where she belong to?
My opinion
Reading The secret garden inspired me with the love for nature, the thoughts about life and useful lessons for everyone. When I read it, I felt interested, curious and couldn't stop because the story was really excellent. Every word in every line is so lively and the way the author wrote is so different; therefore, the book has become wonderful and close to young readers.
After reading this book, I would recommend it to young readers because it talks about life, love and hope. They can feel that they are a part of the novel, they become characters of the story since most of young readers have the same situation with the character's. I believe that The secret garden won't make them disappointed or bored.

TH1RTEEN R3ASONS WHY - Jay Asher

Genre: Horror, Young adult.
Plot: Clay Jensen is a shy high school student who returns home from school one day and finds a box sitting on his doorstep. Upon opening it, he discovers that it is a shoe-box containing seven cassette tapes recorded by the late Hannah Baker, his classmate and emotional crush who recently committed suicide
. The tapes is initially mailed to one classmate with instructions to pass them from one student to another, like a chain letter. On the tapes, Hannah explains to thirteen people how they played a role in her death, by giving thirteen reasons to explain her suicidal. Why is Clay one of the reasons that makes Hannah decides to end her life?
Opinion: I like this book because it's very well structured and has a clear set up. The idea of a girl who tells the story of her life before she commits suicide and sends it to a number of people is also very creative. The book also goes with a map that shows where Hannah has gone to before she takes her life which she tells the readers as we read along. That helps me to concentrate on the story so I can know where she is and it also gives me more interest as I can do something while reading otherwise I could have been more boring if I just read.
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to teenagers because Thirteen Reasons Why reveals how brutal high school can be, the consequences of spreading rumors, and the lasting effects of suicide on those left behind. No one knows for certain how much of impact they have on the lives of other people.

The Dadhunters

I started reading this story because this story's title is quite cool; The Dadhunters! I was thinking that this story is like a son hunts father. Actually, it was not that kind of thing.
This story, 'The Dadhunders' is written by Josephine Feeney. This story has 156 pages (which is much more shorter than the other books). This book was really good to read during the holiday time.
This story has a big main character, called Gary. He loses his father because Gary's father and mother are actually divorced and the father left the house. They are divorced because of the father was dating with the other girl called 'Karen'. She has a very horrible personality. After divorce, Gary thinks that his mother also needs a new husband. He wants to get a father who likes football and to let him stay up late. Then, he is talking about a famous footballer, called 'Tyrone Bradley'. Gary is trying to make his mum meet with Tyrone. Then, Gary's friend Robert has an idea about how to make them meet. Let's guess what that idea is!

Finally, he sees the beautiful wild wolf sisters under the big old tree. After he talks to them and beg them, they agree to help him against the foreigners.
I really like this book. It is attract me to read the book without stopping reading the book. The author uses a lot of interesting vocabularies that I can learn.

Matilda by Roald Dahl

This book is about a four year old girl named Matilda. Her parents, Mr and Mrs.Wormwood, don't spend much time with her and they always think she is stupid and usesless. When she is bored, she often goes to a library. Eventhough she is only 4, she could read like a grown up.
She goes to school for the first time when she is 5 years old, her teacher, Ms.Honey is amazed about how she could do Maths better than a 5th grader.
The principle in Matilda's school doesn't like kids, she often treat students very badly, and looked down to them. One time, the principle blames her for what she didn't do. Matilda is so upset, magically, she is able to spill water on the principle with her mind.
She finds out that Ms.Honey owes the Principle alot of money. So she wants to help her out. In the class, she controls the chalk with her mind and writes on the board that "Give Ms.Honey a house to live and her wages back, and get out of here."
No one sees her again.
Mr and Mrs. Wormwood are caught by cheating on people, so they move to Italy and leave Matilda behind. Afterwards she is adopted to Ms.Honey and they lived happy.

My thought about this book: It is a fun book to read, with pictures. It is easy to understand and very interesting
